Message And maybe this is what Kyle is asking too. You say that JWT's low octane maps are the same as the high octane maps used in normal operation. So this means that when the knock sensor is activated, nothing changes while using the JWT program. Am I to understand that fuel delivery and timing are adjusted independently by the stock ECU? The reason I ask this is because we all know that the JWT program is rich by design, for safety purposes. Now, since it is rich to begin with, maybe it wouldn't need to be further richened in the event the knock sensor is triggered. But, if fuel delivery and timing are adjusted independently, this could mean that the JWT program could lessen the timing advance without delivering more fuel. So, it would still be a safe mode as far as timing is concerned, but the fuel delivery, as you said, is unchanged.

I'm just trying to get a better grasp of how the JWT program is different from the stock one. I understand the 2 seperate maps and their purposes, but I find it hard to believe that JWT would effectively eliminate the safety maps altogether by making them identical to the normal ones. I mean, the reason the JWT is programmed rich to begin with is so that it prevents detonation. With that in mind, I would think that safety was taken into account when programming the maps, therefore I don't see how they would overlook or ignore the secondary safety maps.
